In 2014, there were 3,127 motorcycle accidents across the state of Arizona. During that same period of time, there were 192,474 motorcycles registered within the state. That means that roughly 1.5 percent of all registered motorcycles were involved in some type of collision in a single calendar year. When you consider that most riders operate a motorcycle for many years in a row, you understand that the risks associated with bikes can be high and that a collision is not only possible, but in some cases, likely.
Motorcycle crashes pose a unique set of risks to those involved when compared to a car accident. Though it is true that any type of collision can result in injuries, motorcycle accidents are more likely to cause harm because there is little to protect the bikers in the event of an impact. Unlike a car, there are no airbags, no crumple zones, and no seat belts to help a rider survive a crash which means that they suffer injuries at a high rate.
Victims of motorcycle collisions often have questions and are unsure of where to turn for answers. In Arizona, if you are hurt in a crash, it is your right to obtain legal representation to protect your rights and to seek financial payment on your behalf. Working with an experienced personal injury attorney can help you reach a settlement or an award to provide compensation for all of your damages, regardless of what form they take. In a typical case, a victim may have medical and surgical expenses stemming from the collision as well as pain and suffering. Some are forced to miss work and therefore wages they should otherwise have earned because they are hurt. And yet other victims may be forced to deal with permanent harm that will never heal.
Regardless of your situation, if you have been injured in a bike accident, talking to an injury lawyer can help you realize your rights and your options.
Earlier this morning, police in the Phoenix area were called to the scene of a motorcycle collision on I-10 near 7th Street. While details are still emerging, it appears that a motorcycle and a second vehicle collided, throwing the biker to the ground and leading to critical injuries. Though emergency crews responded, the motorcyclist’s injuries were too severe and the biker lost his life as a result of the crash.
