About a dozen states routinely report more than 100 deaths caused by motorcycle accidents every year, and unfortunately, Arizona is among them. The high number of fatalities is not due to a single factor but likely a combination of several, including the fact that Arizona has a high population which is increasing annually. Add to that the fact that the weather in most of the state makes riding year-round possible, though sometimes not ideal, and that several areas have a significant biker culture which makes riding even more pleasurable.
Bikers are a valuable sect of the Phoenix community, yet they are often overlooked when it comes to safety concerns. Drivers may fail to look for or fail to notice motorcycles on the roads and highways of Maricopa County or in more rural areas across the state. This can lead to dangerous situations where a car and a biker collide, often leading to injuries to those involved.
After a typical motorcycle crash, victims may be unsure of their rights and the steps they need to take to get relief. When this happens, these victims may obtain clarity by speaking with a personal injury lawyer in the Phoenix area who has experience handling claims on behalf of bikers. Relief may be possible under state and local laws to provide victims with financial payment for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and any other damages that stem from the crash like the permanency of any injuries. In many cases, multiple claims may exist and/or relief against multiple insurance companies may be possible.
Details are still emerging around a Friday morning collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist near Scottsdale. Authorities have confirmed that a car and the biker collided on the northbound Loop 101 near the Loop 202 ramp for reasons that are not yet clear. While emergency crews responded to the scene and attempted to render aid, the biker’s injuries were too extreme and he died as a result.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time and the result may determine whether anyone involved will be cited or criminally charged in the collision.
