Teen Crossing Street in Glendale Killed by Fleeing Car

Across the Phoenix area, many schools are starting back into session this week and kids are returning to the classroom. Yet some remain out and with their summer breaks comes kids who have additional free time and may be seen in and around the Valley. As a result, all drivers should be aware of kids and teenagers when they are navigate the roads as these groups are more likely to be present now than at some other times of the year.

Many young people choose to walk or ride a bicycle around the Phoenix area for a means of transportation and as a result, pedestrian accidents and bicycle collisions involving children are a potential that no driver can afford to ignore. The facts continue to bear the conclusion that when a large, heavy car and a small, unprotected child collide, the child is injured more than 90 percent of the time and far too often loses his or her life.

The best thing to do to encourage safety among all is to prevent a collision whenever possible by staying alert and respecting the rights of others, including pedestrians. This will ensure that no harm will come to those who walk and that no lives will be negatively impacted by a crash.

Yet unfortunately, accidents continue to happen every day in the Valley and injuries continue to result. If you or your loved one falls victim to a pedestrian crash due to the negligence of a driver, you may already be aware of the extreme toll these incidents can enact and you may be suffering as a consequence of that collision. While your injuries cannot be erased overnight, you may still be able to obtain relief for your damages through the use of a civil claim and with the assistance of a personal injury attorney. If you have questions about your options or you want to move forward with your right to relief, talking to a lawyer can help you get the results that you need and deserve.

An incident in Glendale has left the community in mourning as a young teenager lost his life in an accident. According to police there, the 15-year-old boy was trying to cross the street near North 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road on Thursday evening when an unidentified vehicle approached the teen and struck him, causing significant injuries. That driver failed to stop and check on the teen or failed to alert police to the incident, instead fleeing the area in violation of local and state laws.

The first collision led to a second impact in the area with a second driver colliding with the teen. Though emergency efforts to save the boy were attempted, his injuries were too severe and he died shortly after the collisions.

Police have spoken with the second driver involved in the incident and they are still looking for the first driver. They are conducting an investigation which will determine what charges, if any, will be brought in this matter.

If you have been injured as a pedestrian in a Phoenix car accident or if your loved one was killed, make sure you have a complete understanding of your legal rights so that you can obtain the maximum amount of relief possible in your case.
